Janene's Beautiful Office

I know this is an old  photo but nobody ever accused ME of being a Speed Demon, right? "Better late than never" is my motto. ha! I was collecting information for my files and had to log-in to YankeePoodle to remember my account password. It's been weeks since anyone has even looked at this blog and I think it's time to get busy again! Anyway, hoping people notice this new picture and hoping I keep my commitment to update this blog more regularly!

Your office is lovely Janene, but not as lovely as you. We miss you and hope you move to Utah soon.

We had a great time with Mom during her vacation to Utah last week! That was a blast, having her shuttled from one house to the other. Lucky Mom...she won't ever get too bored in one spot (although our kitchen chairs were hard as a board).

Love,
Carolyn

Short Film: The Man Who Planted Trees (30 minutes)

Winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film and Short Film Palme d'Or in 1987, this is a charming animated masterpiece about a man who devotes his life to planting trees. Directed by Frederick Back and edited by Norbert Pickering, this is the full English language version translated by Jean Roberts and narrated by Christopher Plummer (the original version is in French language narrated by Philippe Noiret).

Jean Giono, the author of the short story upon which the movie is based, wrote the story after American editors in 1953 asked him to write a few pages about an unforgettable character. They intended him to write about a real unforgettable character, but he created the fictional Elezeard Bouffier. When the editors objected that no Bouffier had died in Banon, he donated the story to all humanity. It was soon after published by Vogue in 1954. Many people have assumed that Bouffier is a real person.

I loved this short film and thought maybe you'd both enjoy watching it when there was nothing worth seeing on Netflix. (or your television isn't working, yet) ha!

Love,
Carolyn
