If you want to read English subtitles while she is speaking, there's a small icon on the task bar at the bottom of the lecture screen: View Subtitles. Click this bar and select English or any other language you prefer reading. hehehe You can read what Temple is saying while she is speaking---this is an awesome feature you might find useful for her and other people's lectures!
This is a direct link to the speaker's website: Temple Grandin. This link includes information about a movie HBO made about her life. This film won several Emmys in 2010.
I haven't seen the movie, yet. People keep recommending it so maybe it's time to jot the title on a piece of paper and stick it on my computer screen? ha!
I was watching a lecture on TED.com this morning and stumbled on Temple Grandin's lecture. It touched my heart especially now that we know Michael has Asperger's Syndrome. Because autism is genetic, there's no doubt other family members have a touch of the aspie, too. Maybe even 'this' writer who tends to think in pictures more than words. Or maybe there's a pinch of autism in our computer programming geeks?
It's fascinating learning about the unique ways people think because of their brain structure and as Temple reminds us in this film, we need a variety of thinkers to solve the many problems in our world.
I hope you are as inspired by this lecture as myself. It lasts approximately twenty minutes like all Ted.com lectures.
