Mmmmmm....deer liver dinner!

(To show you how 'backed up' my Photoshopping is, we got this liver last fall during hunting season and I'm just now getting the picture together for YankeePoodle.)

One of Kimberly's Starbucks partners goes deer hunting every year with her daughter (who also works at Starbucks). She happened to mention this to Kim and asked if our family might be interested in the liver since they never take it home with them. They hate liver. So lucky us, we ended up with several deer livers which we've merrily fried in a pan with lots of onions, bay leaf, and pepper. It's as delicious as Connie and I remembered. We told Kim and Michael that we ate more deer burger than beef when growing up, which in today's world, sounds exotic and high-falutin'. A nice venison roast and handpicked asparagus along the ditch bank. All we needed were a few of MowMow's poke greens and we'd have a fancy feast......ha!

I'll bet it was more fun going on a hunting trip for the family meat than shopping at Ridleys every week.  Not too many wild and crazy stories to tell are there, Mom? Unless your Ridleys is more exciting than our Reams. Wait a minute! I recall a few thrilling moments in Ridleys produce department after discovering an elaborate display of fresh peppers, from a mild Poblano to the hottest Habanero! Still, I don't suppose adventurous treks through Ridleys will ever compete with the Selway.......ha!

Love,
Carolyn
